Great recommendations for stock footage. What about non-stock footage, such as time sensitive, newsworthy video and photos? If you capture something exclusive, bideo.com let’s you sell the copyright to the press in an auction. News outlets compete for it, and seller gets true market value.

Just a different category that might be worth covering..

That’s a nice list. I like the “steps to sell images”, they really help not to waste time on lots of help pages.. I sell on Shutterstock, Fotolia and some others – they seem really not bad!

Adding my 5 cents – i am building a similar list too – at http://designbeginshere.com – trying to make it categorized to show if you can sell there or get participation in aff.programs.. feel free to use it and add to this one!

  24. Gordon says:

Hi Arvind, thanks for that. I’m considering trying to sell on some stock photography sites and there’s a few in your list I didn’t know about. On my list I also have dreamstime.com, and http://www.everystockphoto.com searches several sites at once to find images you’re after. That might reveal more sites & options.

Do you sell on all of the sites in your post? Have you considered adding to your “Steps to Register” list what hoops you have to jump through to get approved? I ask because the one thing that’s putting me off is the stories I’m reading about how hard it is to get accepted by some of these sites. I know they are the top sites and therefore require the best quality but for example, there are entire forums devoted to iStock “inital 10″ (or however many it is) and people are showing the photos that were rejected, and quite frankly I’m wondering if it’s a waste of my time until I get enough time (and possibly equipment) to get things perfectly.

Nicos, you sell on a couple of these, can you explain what you did to get accepted?

    Thanks
